DOVE
COTTAGE TEAROOM APPEAL
Please help
us ensure the future of your local hospice
Since
1996 we have been providing palliative daycare services for people suffering
from life threatening illness, living in and around the Vale of Belvoir. We
are a charitable organisation with a turnover of £150,000 every year, of which
£100,000 has to be raised locally. All of our services are provided free of
charge.
To help ensure the future of Dove Cottage, we have been looking at ways of generating
new income streams. We have been fortunate enough to be allowed use of a building
some 400 metres from the hospice. It is our intention to open this as a tearoom/charity
shop in March 2009, to support the work of Dove Cottage.
It is in an ideal situation, on the banks of the Grantham Canal where many people
are out enjoying country pursuits such as walking, riding, cycling, fishing
etc.
It is our aim to provide excellent quality refreshments and sell items donated
to the hospice such as jewellery, gifts, pictures etc. We would also like to
be able to support rural businesses by selling local produce. We intend to include
both a picnic area and children's play facilities to make it a pleasurable visit
for all the family.
We are all very excited about this new project as we believe if will provide
a much needed community service as well as providing funds for the hospice.
Before we can get started on making some necessary alterations to the tearoom,
we need to raise £15,000 to cover this work and will be holding some fundraising
events until this figure has been met. Any support you can offer us will be
very much appreciated.
